Practice Makes Perfect

For many beginning—and even continuing—students, arrival on campus can be as intimidating as it is exciting. Expectations to speak Russian instead of English, to do well in classes, to learn and adapt to a foreign language in an immersive environment have certainly overwhelmed plenty of students. This is why we created this pre-immersion learning environment. So that you could spend time learning before you get to campus. The more familiar you are with the Russian language—the alphabet, some basic phrases—and the better you understand what to expect from yourself, the more exciting your time at Middlebury will be.

This is the most important area of our site. Here, we’ve collected plenty of opportunities for you to learn and practice Russian language skills. Plan to spend some time doing the exercises here.
